We begin a three-week look at reformation in the church – in the past and the present, in the larger Church and our church. Reformation movements begin when someone looks with fresh eyes at the Bible, the teachings of the Church, and the way Christians are living their faith, and sees that those things aren’t in synch. This morning we’ll look back at the great Reformation of the sixteenth century, when Martin Luther and others took a fresh look at Scripture and challenged the teachers of the Roman Catholic Church to do the same.

We reflect together on how God’s word, written and spoken, transforms individuals and communities, never leaving us where we are, unchanged. Thanks to Pastor Hector Garfias, of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod, for bringing the message this morning.
