UPCOMING MESSAGES: ALIVE AGAIN
APRIL – JUNE 2017
We continue our Easter celebration with a message series with the title “Alive Again!” From the beginnings of creation to Jesus’ resurrection from death to life, our God has been a God who brings new life where there was no life. God also redeems our lives from all kinds of death — loneliness, meaninglessness, grief, despair, addiction — and gets us established in a new, abundant, and fertile life that makes a difference not just for us but for the people and the world around us.
Get to know others, ask questions, and explore topics of faith in a Connection Group.
We also have Connection Groups currently meeting at various times during the week. You can read a detailed description of all Redeemer Connection Groups here. If you’re interested in participating in small-group life, contact Rachel.
Following Jesus is foundational to who we are and what we’re about. One of the places He’s led us is prison. After all, it is there that we visit Jesus himself (Matthew 25:36). Our Under the Door arm of the ministry reaches out to current inmates, while our Inside-Out Connections addresses the missed connection between ex-offenders and congregations. Each of these ministries has its own specific focus, but they work together to achieve our overall mission of bringing hope and help to current and former inmates by connecting them to God, each other, and the local church. Check us out at underthedoor.org!
Our passion is to be a visible, viable, valuable alternative to the current way of doing prison and ex-offender ministry. Our ministry has four main components:
- Praying with inmates as we distribute our Spiritual Survival Guide for Prison & Beyond at Stateville Prison.
- Inside-Out Connection Group – a weekly small group Bible study/support group exclusively for formerly incarcerated men.
- Pen Pal Ministry – correspondence with current prisoners, providing needed encouragement and hope.
- RED (Re-Entry Directory) Chicago – a resource for “returning citizens,” which connects them with local services and aid, and provides guidance for a successful re-entry and transition into the next phase of life.
Prison ministry plays a crucial role in the breaking through of God’s Kingdom into this world. All of the above-mentioned programs have volunteer opportunities available! If you have questions, would like more information, or are interested in getting involved in our prison and re-entry ministries, please contact Ben Blobaum at firstname.lastname@example.org or (224) 392-1834.
